Nick Demery (Year Elected - 2003)

A former Richmond captain tasked with, among other things, keeping the mercurial Peter Ray on a tight(ish) leash, Nick served on the League Committee for several years before accepting the role of Secretary in 1983, a position he only relinquished in 1999.

A solid opening bat, he played for Richmond from 1978 until 1997 before retiring; he spent some seven years in the 1st XI before playing the rest of his career in the 2nd XI.  In 1979 he scored 50 against Sri Lanka before being ‘Mankaded’ with the club side homing in on victory.

He has helped out by umpiring the 3rd XI occasionally when required when his ceaseless search to improve his golf handicap permitted; and he now umpires with Finchley 2nd XI.
