Ivor Chaplin (Year Elected - 2006)

Ivor is the Middlesex County Cricket League’s one and only world record holder.  After joining Brentham CC in 1964 as 2nd XI scorer he progressed to the 1st XI in 1968 and that’s when it all started.  From then until 2020 he did not miss a single match - Saturday, Sunday or midweek!  In total he scored in excess of 2000 consecutive matches: a wonderful testimony to his constitution as well as his dedication to the club.  Including in that awesome total of course is every Middlesex CCL match the club had ever played to the end of that season.

Aside from this Vice-Presidency, the honours were heaped upon him in recent years: winner of the Middlesex CCC OSCA (Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards), runner-up in the ECB’s national OSCAs and winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sports Officials UK Conference presented by no less a dignitary than Football World Cup Final referee Howard Webb (not though that Ivor would have known that!).

It is safe to say there will never be another Ivor Chaplin and nobody will get close to his numbers.
