Angus Fraser MBE (Year Elected - 2003)
He never held office in the League; he never served on the Committee; he never captained his club; he never even played that many League matches; it wasn’t even his 46 Test Matches, 177 wickets, 42 ODIs with 47 wickets; so why did Angus Fraser become a Vice President of the MCCL?
Quite simply, it was the unanimous opinion of the League Committee that ‘Gus’ embodied all that is good about our game. He went back to playing for his only club as a genuine amateur and he was often seen helping out behind the bar. He played for the club’s 3rd XI in order to play with his son – sadly that brought him into conflict with the League’s rules about playing in divisions lower than his playing standards!
Latterly Angus took became Stanmore chairman and one of the many things he achieved was, during the Covid pandemic 'lockdown', and and his immediate family, his 'bubble' redecorated the inside of Stanmore's clubhouse.
